Damian Cowell is a Melbourne musician who is best known as the frontman for TISM, Root and the DC3.[1]

History

Not much is known about him pre-TISM, but a blog operated by the sister of a former fiancee of his mentions that Cowell was in a band called "I Can Run", who also had Eugene Cester (later to be known as Eugene de la Hot Croix Bun of TISM) on bass.

TISM formed in late 1982, with Jack Holt (Jock Cheese) on bass, Cester on Optigan and Cowell on vocals. They made tapes whick Hariklia (the sister of Cowell's then-fiancee) contributed to.

TISM's first public release, This Is Serious Mum, was released shortly after they won the 3RRR Battle of the Bands in December 1985.

Post-TISM

After TISM's unannounced breakup in 2004 after the Earthcore festival, Cowell set to work recording country themed songs under the name DC Root.[2]

In 2010, Root! changed their name to the DC3 and are still performing.[3]
